Vitech Leverages Scanning and Voice to Further Productivity at Sport Chalet

Vitech initially implemented Vocollect Voice at Sport Chalet, driving productivity improvements in their Put to Store business processes. However, following the implementation, the business need arose for workers to occasionally read long digit strings to setup new containers or to identify the tote they would be working on. Vitech suggested a simple, cost effective, scanning solution to complement the existing voice-enabled Put to Store processes.

Socket Mobile's bluetooth scanners were the perfect solution as they could pair with the existing Vocollect Voice devices and provide the ability to scan, yet not tie users to holding an additional device. The resulting solution enabled operators to shave additional seconds from their Put to Store business processes.
"The particular model of scanner we chose was perfect for occasional scanning," says Mark Romaine, Operations Manager at Sport Chalet. "This is because the user wears the bluetooth scanner on a lanyard around their neck making it quickly accessible at the start of the job function to identify their containers. However, once used they can let it go to perform the repetitive Put to Store task with both hands. This enables them to occasionally scan as needed without having additional hardware on the back of their hand which helps to eliminate accidental breakage when they are moving their hands in and out of the bin boxes."
